How to bathe a newborn?
Your baby's first bath is a true milestone. But when to give it, not to mention how and where , are questions every new parent has. Cleaning a slippery, squirming, and sometimes screaming baby takes practice . So relax; it will get easier and easier, and your baby will soon love splashing in the water.
How often do babies need baths?
For a newborn, bathing two or three times a week is probably sufficient, as long as you keep your little one's diaper area clean and wash his hands and face several times a day. Unless they've gotten dirty, newborns don't get as dirty.
The older your baby is, the more he will need a regular bath , particularly after he has started to crawl and eat his first foods . By the time your baby is a toddler, he will need to bathe almost every night; If not to remove the dirt from a fun day, at least to help her calm down before bed.
Sponges for the first baths
Before your baby's umbilical cord falls off (between 10 days and three weeks after birth), it is best to bathe him with a sponge to avoid getting wet. Following these steps:
- Lay him on a soft, flat surface (on top of a clean towel works well).
- Have a bowl of warm water and a sponge or washcloth handy.
- Keep it warm, and expose its limbs one by one while gently washing it.
- Pat the area dry and start with the next tip.
- If you accidentally get the umbilical cord wet, simply use the towel to gently pat it dry.
